Easter dots and stripes

Making this card reminded me of how much fun it is to dye Easter eggs! I still prefer the old school kits rather than the ones with all the glitter and stickers. Too messy. :) Yes, hard-boiled, brightly colored Easter eggs are delicious. But I will never understand why anyone eats the Cadbury creme eggs. Yuck.

I really enjoy making cards this time of year because I get to use so many awesome color combinations.

Flower bunny

I just adore the the BB Somebunny stamp and die set from My Favorite Things. It is actually my first MFT stamp set! I have been using their card stock because it comes in so many great colors and really didn't want to start liking another stamp company ($$$), but I couldn't resist buying this. And the bunnies can be used on cards year round.

I'm also pretty stoked that I am finally using the newest sequin color from Pretty Pink Posh, Lime Sorbet. It may be my favorite shade of green that they carry. :)

Ewe are cute

Another Easter card! I think they may be my favorite to make because spring is my favorite time of year, and I get to use bright, cheery colors.

For my card, I first decided to use patterned papers for the grass and sky and then took the theme further with the balloons and the eggs. It's funny how much the eggs looks like balloons in the grass. :)

I added two layers of grass to give my card more dimension so that the eggs would look like they are in the grass rather than on top of it.

With the sheep, I toyed with the idea that it would be holding the balloon but then wondered how it would look if the balloon was carrying it. I am not quite sure what I decided! I think the position of the sheep makes his action ambiguous. Is he jumping? Or is he hitching a ride with the balloon?

I am entering my card into the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, with beautiful spring Pinterest inspiration:

Silvery vellum

I am so happy that I decided to buy Mama Elephant's stamp set Freestyle Florals. The different flower types in the set are just beautiful. I used my favorite for my card today.

I was going to try water coloring, but I really like how the flowers turned out with just my Spectrum Noir markers.

I colored the first flower with two shades of a very light turquoise. It is soft, subtle, and very pretty. I decided on oranges and yellows for the other two flowers because those colors remind me of spring (and the tropics!).

I think this is the first time I have used vellum. I got some at my local craft store, and it ended up looking silvery, so I decided to use silver embossing powder from Simon Says Stamp for my sentiment. I used several sizes of Pretty Pink Posh's metallic silver sequins to finish off my card.

I am not entering my card into any challenges this time ... I wish Mama Elephant still had challenges. They had only six or seven, and the last one was in December. :( Maybe they will start up again!
